President Zardari meets the Chinese envoy

President Asif Ali Zardari met Monday with Chinese ambassador Jiang Zaidong to discuss bilateral ties and growing tensions with India after the attack of the Pahalgama on April 22.

During the meeting at the AIWAN-E-SADR, Zardari expressed concern about the “irresponsible and aggressive position” of India, warning that New Delhi actions represented a threat to regional peace and stability.

The Chinese envoy reiterated the strong ties and tested by Beijing’s time with Islamabad, calling the two “iron brothers” nations and pointing to their constant support from each other during difficult times.

Ambassador Jiang thanked Zari for sharing Pakistan’s perspective on the situation evolving with India and assured the continuous Chinese support for efforts to maintain peace in southern Asia.

President Zardari also appreciated the constant support of the Chinese government to Pakistan in challenging times.

Previously, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif thanked the Chinese prime minister, Li Qiang, for supporting Islamabad’s call for credible and transparent international investigation on the attack of April 22 in Jammu and Cashmiro (Iiojk).

The prime minister made the comments during a meeting with Chinese ambassador Jiang Zaidong at the office of the Prime Minister in Islamabad, where he also expressed his gratitude to China for his constant support in augmented regional tensions.

He transmitted his best wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li, and appreciated Beijing’s understanding of Pakistan’s principles about the recent actions of India.
