President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday asked the Federal Government to increase wages and pensions in the next budget, reduce income taxes for salaried classes and concentrate on creating jobs instead of reducing size.

In his annual speech to the joint session of the Parliament that marks the beginning of the new parliamentary year, Zardari highlighted the severe economic difficulties faced by the common man, workers and salaried people. He pointed out inflation, high prices of essential goods and the increase in energy costs such as key loads that affect people.

The president emphasized that the next budget should provide real relief to citizens. He urged the Government and Parliament to take measures to increase wages and pensions, reduce income taxes in salaried classes and reduce energy costs, which would relieve the financial tension of the population.

“We should avoid reduction and employment cuts. Instead, our approach should be to create jobs and use trained labor productively, ”added Zardari.

As the first civil president to go to Parliament for the eighth time, Zarari also emphasized the need for inclusive and uniform development, ensuring that no province, district or people is left behind.

“Ignored and careless areas demand urgent attention from the federal government. They also need investments in infrastructure, education, medical care and economic opportunities to address their sense of deprivation, ”concluded the president.
