Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s strong condemnation for the recent Israeli aggression against Iran and expressed solidarity with the Iranian people and the government amid high tensions in the region.
The prime minister made the comments during a meeting with the Iranian ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam outside the Expo and International Maritime Conference in Islamabad on Monday. “The sympathies of the entire Pakistani nation are with Iran about the martyrdom of innocent people,” he said.

He referred to his recent telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during which Pakistan reaffirmed his support for Iran in the United Nations Security Council. Sharif emphasized that Israel’s attacks against Iran are a shameless violation of international law and the UN letter.
The prime minister stressed even more that Pakistan would continue to support Iran in the face of Israeli aggression and maintain his commitment to support Iran’s sovereignty on the global stage.
Previously, speaking at the soft launch of the 2nd Expo and International Maritime Conference of Pakistan (Pimec 2025), the prime minister described his vision to transform Pakistan into a regional maritime power.
“It is a great pleasure to see the Navy of Pakistan, under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and in collaboration with key partners, organizing the second edition of Pimec,” said Prime Minister.

He praised the leadership of the head of Admiral Naval Naveed Ashraf and the Minister of Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, for his strategic forecast and commitment to advance the event.
In his speech, Sharif emphasized the fundamental role of Pakistan’s Navy in national defense and regional security, pointing out: “The Pakistan Navy has been a formidable force through all conflicts and remains a strong pillar of our national security.”
The prime minister also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the International Law of Peace and Maritime, citing the Aman exercise, which involved more than 50 countries, as a symbol of Pakistan’s cooperative maritime stance.
With more than 1,000 kilometers of coast and strategic positioning along vital marine lanes, Sharif declared that Pakistan was in a unique position to take advantage of the Billionaire Global Blue Economy.
“Even touching a fraction of this economy could be a real change of play,” he said, and added, “our coastal trade already contributes almost $ 7 billion a year, and imagines the potential if we completely develop this sector.”
The prime minister was inspired by world success stories, in particular Japan, which, despite the limited maritime resources, became a world leader in marine infrastructure and regional trade. “That there is open competition,” he said, emphasizing the importance of resilience, innovation and strategic investment.
Sharif concluded highlighting the need to transform the maritime sector of Pakistan into a promoter of inclusive and sustainable economic growth. He asked for greater synergy between the public and private sectors, saying: “The time has come to take the lead.”
