Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received an honor guard at the Zagulba Presidential Palace in Azerbaijan on Monday when his official two -day visit began to strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations.
President Ilham Aliyev welcomed the Pakistani prime minister upon arrival at the Palace, where the national hymns of both countries were played before the formal reception by the Azerbaijan armed forces.
The visit marks the second trip of Prime Minister Shehbaz to Azerbaijan since he assumed the position in March 2024. He is accompanied by a high -level ministerial delegation, including the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and Minister of Investment and Privatization and Privatization. After the reception, both leaders proceeded to a bilateral meeting, followed by conversations at the delegation level. The discussions covered a variety of key areas, which include trade, investment, energy cooperation, defense collaboration and joint efforts to combat climate change.
During the visit, Pakistan and Azerbaijan have signed multiple comprehension memorandum (MOU) and agreements to promote economic and strategic associations. The authorities say that the agreements will focus on expanding trade, strengthen energy collaboration and improve cultural and diplomatic exchanges.
As part of his commitments, Prime Minister Shehbaz will also attend the Pakistan-Azerbaijan business forum, where both countries’s business leaders will explore opportunities for joint companies and investments.
The forum is expected to facilitate the collaboration of company to company (B2B) in several sectors.
Pakistan and Azerbaijan share historically close ties, backed by mutual support on key global and regional issues.
The visit is seen as a step to further deepen bilateral cooperation and the advancement of shared economic and strategic objectives.
