Prince Harry appeared to have sparked a new war with his estranged brother, Prince William, especially when he had been trying to improve ties with his father, King Charles.
The Duke of Sussex, who is currently fighting a legal battle alongside six high-profile whistleblowers against the publisher of the Daily Mail, is also taking steps to honor the memory of his late mother, Princess Diana.
Harry’s history of publishing documentaries and books has not brought him particularly positive results, especially when it comes to the relationships he maintains with his family. His Netflix docuseries with Meghan and his explosive memoir had kept him estranged from his father in a years-long feud.
Now, just as father and son were growing closer to each other, Harry and Meghan are planning a documentary about the fatal accident that took Diana’s life after renewing their multimillion-dollar deal with Netflix last year. This is infuriating William, sources reveal to Closer.
“Harry is determined to honor his mother and share her story. He sees no reason why he needs to involve his brother in this,” a source said.
“What’s really driving William crazy is how involved Meghan is,” they continued. “William doesn’t love her anywhere near his mother’s story. It sickens him that Harry, and by extension Meghan, dare to disrespect his mother and take advantage of her memory.”
William and Harry’s mother died in August 1997 from injuries sustained in a tragic car accident in Paris.
Sources have indicated that the future king is “very clear” in his position and is willing to “put up all the obstacles he can” if Harry goes ahead with the plan. William will not shy away from putting in “legal bureaucracy” or even “asking favors from higher ups to close it down.”
They stressed that the Prince of Wales is “up in arms against this.” The source added: “For him, this is the ultimate deception and he is not willing to stand by and let his own son exploit his mother to death.”
