Private airlines “committed to boost links” with Uzbekistan


Islamabad:

Pakistan would encourage private sector airlines to accelerate commercial and tourist links with Uzbekistan in order to boost cooperation between two countries in the tourism sector, special prime minister assistant (SAPM) in the Haroon Akhtar Khan industries announced Friday.

Khan held a meeting with Uzbekistan Tourism Minister Umid Shadiev, to deepen bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector, said a press release.

Uzbekistan ambassador to Pakistan Alisher Tukhtaev was also present on the occasion.

During the meeting, both parties highlighted the vast bilateral collaboration potential in the field of tourism.

Khan said that Pakistan was completely prepared to cooperate with Uzbekistan to strengthen tourist ties, promote cultural exchange and preserve shared heritage.

Khan announced that the international airlines of Pakistan (PIA), in the directives of the Prime Minister, would begin international flights to Uzbekistan.

In addition, he added, private airlines would also be committed to accelerate commercial and tourist links.

“Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has imagined historical projects in the areas of tourism, heritage and exchanges of people to people,” Khan said. “Efforts are being made to facilitate travelers from both countries, including the ease of visa processes and travel -related services,” he added.

He stressed that time had come to look towards Asia Central, who had immense opportunities for economic and cultural growth.

He stressed that tourism played a vital role in improving GDP and exports.

Shadiev appreciated the growing bilateral ties and mentioned that several Memorandes of Comprehension (MOU) between the two countries had already been signed. He also stressed the importance of encouraging working people from both nations through mutual cooperation.
