Professional wrestling legend William Regal urged competitors in the ring to learn and establish safe practices amid a series of scary-looking bumps.
Regal posted a lengthy message on his social media, accompanied by an x-ray showing his own broken bones from receiving severe blows while in the ring. He performed for World Championship Wrestling (WCW), WWE and was a manager for All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

“I’m staying here, but today I was alerted to something that has alarmed me. I don’t read any comments, so don’t waste your time trying to argue or justify your very misguided opinions on this. I broke my neck twice (92/93) in the ring and in a car accident in 1997 and, stupidly, I never told anyone. And I was taught correctly how to do a bridge and not land on the top of my head,” he wrote in X. “It’s a skill that maybe the 99.9% of people no longer know and will never learn again.
“I kept going somehow, but I knew all the tricks that, again, people don’t learn now and watch movies and just copy. After Misawa San passed away from his neck problems, I thought I’d stop having this nonsense, but it’s gotten worse and every time I talk to people about what they did it’s ‘well, it doesn’t hurt…’. Believe me it will be. I have people close to me now, Bryan (Danielson) is one of them, who suffers daily, like me, because of his neck. It’s daily misery and sleep and every other aspect of your life is beyond difficult. Even though people use the term tough on me, you’ll never hear me say that because I’m not and I don’t think I am or ever have been.’
Two of the scariest successes this year occurred in the last two months.
On Saturday night on AEW’s Full Gear, Jon Moxley suplexed Kyle Fletcher off the top rope. Fletcher landed on his head.

During WWE’s Survivor Series: WarGames, CM Punk and Cody Rhodes teamed up to deliver a Doomsday Device to Bron Breakker. As Punk covered Breakker, the latter wrestler flipped backwards and landed on his head.
At first glance, both Fletcher and Breakker seemed fine.
“The money and whatever nonsense fame is supposed to be is not worth the pain or the supposed glory of two nights you get for these ridiculous moves by falling on your head,” Regal continued. “The vast majority of fans don’t know the difference between a vertical suplex and a Brainbuster and that is a much tamer move than many I see now.
“I’m 57 and I’m becoming less relevant every day, but fame has never been my thing, so most of you who do these STUPID things aren’t going to listen to me, but I hope some of you will. Stop it now if you want a decent quality of life after wrestling because that part of your life will be over before you know it, and wrestling done right is hard enough, but breaking your neck or dying isn’t something you should think is hard or cool. It’s an idiotic thought.”
