The Punjab School Education Department has imposed a new clothing code for teachers, after a similar movement in Sindh.
A notification issued by the department establishes that male teachers in government schools are prohibited from wearing jeans and t -shirts.
Teachers and students also receive instructions not to come to school with excessive makeup, high heels or faces. In addition, teachers should use Shalwar Kameez with Dupattas or Hijabs.
The new clothing code aims to ensure that teachers maintain clothing that reflect professional and cultural values.
The department has emphasized that strict measures will be taken against teachers who do not comply with the guidelines. Private schools have also aimed at enforcing the clothing code among their staff.
The decision occurs as part of the ongoing efforts to defend discipline and respect for cultural norms within educational institutions.
