  • The drivers complain about the deterioration of vehicle tires.
  • The lawyers protest on the Sindh-Punjab border too.
  • The nationalist political parties participate in the protest.

Khairpur: The protest sitting for lawyers and civil society members against the proposed construction of six Channels of the Indo River has now entered its tenth consecutive day, which caused a large amount of traffic between Sindh and Punjab on the National Highway.

The ongoing demonstration has generated a significant number of participants, with lawyers and civil society activists united in their opposition to the controversial channel projects.

The blockade of the National Highway has resulted in the suspension of the entire vehicular movement between the two provinces during the last 10 days.

The current block has severely impacted the transport of essential goods, including food and food, since trucks and trailers remain stranded. This has also led to greater difficulties for travelers and transporters.

Heavy containers drivers stranded due to protest have reported that their vehicle tires deteriorate due to prolonged position.

The protesters have promised to maintain their protests until a notification is issued that confirms the cancellation of the project, despite the security of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that no channel would be built without consensus.

Prime Minister Shehbaz and the president of the PPP, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, held a high-risk meeting in Islamabad on Thursday, after weeks of growing restlessness in all Sindh.

In a joint press conference, the prime minister announced that channels would not be built unless there is consensus in the Common Interests Council (CCI).

He confirmed that the next CCI meeting on May 2 would formally support the agreement reached with the PPP.

The protests are organizing in different parts of the National Highway.

The protest sitting against the Channels of the Indo River has entered its eighth consecutive day near the Mangrio Bomb on the National Highway in Daharki, Ghotki.

The activists of the nationalist parties and several political and social organizations continue to participate in the demonstration.

Meanwhile, a separate protest of lawyers on the border of Sindh-Punjab near Kamoon Shaheed has also reached its fifth day, exacerbating the situation of traffic in the region even more. The protesters are still firm in their opposition to the channel project, demanding a reconsideration of their potential impact.

It seems that there is no immediate ending in view of traffic interruption. The authorities have not yet announced any advance in negotiations aimed at solving the problem and clearing the vital transport artery.
