Karachi: The Cricket T20 League of Pakistan will move to the United Arab Emirates, the authorities said on Friday, after Indian attacks against the country, including a drone that arrived at the Rawalpindi stadium.
Pakistan’s army “neutralized” 28 Indian drones, including one near the city stadium on Thursday morning, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said.
He called him “a deliberate attempt to attack national and foreign Cricket players.”
“The Pakistan Cricket Board confirms that the remaining parties of the Super League of Pakistan have moved to the EAU,” said a PCB statement, which added that the schedule would be updated in due time.
The decision was arrived after several meetings between the franchise and the president of PCB, Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the Interior Minister.
Naqvi said the decision was taken for the sake of the security of the players.
“The PCB has always maintained the position that politics and sports must remain separate. However, in view of the extremely irresponsible and dangerous Indian act of attacking the stadium, the PCB has made this decision,” Naqvi said in the statement.
“We have moved the remaining games to the EAU so that domestic and foreigners Cricket players, who are our beautiful guests, can be saved from the possible reckless orientation of India.”

Thirty -seven foreign players, including Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Western Indies, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, are participating in the PSL.
India sent air attacks to Pakistan on Wednesday, two weeks after New Delhi culpared Islamabad for supporting an attack against illegally occupied Indians Jammu and Kashmir (Iiok), a claim that Pakistan denied.
Pakistan responded with heavy artillery fire and both sides were accused on Thursday of carrying out waves of drone attacks.
The International Cricket resumed in Pakistan in 2020 after being suspended after the 2009 terrorist attacks against the Sri Lanko -team bus in Lahore.
Several Australian and New Zealand players involved in this season’s PSL, including David Warner in Australia, had traveled to Pakistan with their national teams in the recent past.
