- He says that the party will have a peaceful protest outside the house of Parliament.
- Waqas Akram says that MNA will attend briefly, then boycott sessions.
Islamabad: After presenting resignations of multiple parliamentary panels, Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) has decided to boycott sessions of the National Assembly (NA), The news reported on Tuesday.
The measure, in line with the directives of the founder of PTI Imran Khan, will make the party converge outside the House of the Parliament for informal procedures.
The development occurs in the context of multiple disqualifications of PTI legislators, including the former opposition leader in the NA and Senate Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz, after the courts condemned them in cases related to the disturbances of May 9, exacerbating further the existing legal waves of the old ruling party.
When announcing the decision, the president of the PTI, the lawyer Gohar Ali Khan, said that the members of the parliamentary party fully support the decision and now would be organizing peaceful protest meetings outside the house of Parliament.
“Our members were disqualified, and we were not even allowed to talk. If we wanted to celebrate Independence Day, they did not allow us to do it,” Gohar lamented as he reflected on the disqualifications of PTI legislators.
“We tried to submit our demands in the session of the Assembly in a democratic way, but we were not allowed to speak,” added the president of PTI.
When it was contacted, PTI Waqas Akram’s information confirmed development. But when asked, did the party legislators remain totally far from the session, explained that the members would briefly attend each session and then they would protest.
“Our members will celebrate the assembly outside Parliament,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the president of Na, Ayaz Sadiq, has urged the members of the Sunita Sunita (sic) council backed by PTI to reconsider his decision to renounce the permanent committees of the lower house.
“I wish they are still part of the permanent committees of the Chamber,” Sadiq said as they preside over a meeting of the Chamber Business Advisory Committee a day before.
