The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday expressed serious concern over the health of its jailed founder Imran Khan, alleging that prison authorities and the government were obstructing the treatment of a “serious eye condition” and demanded that he be provided with immediate medical attention.
In a post on
“According to doctors, the condition is very sensitive and serious, and there is a great risk of permanent damage to vision if timely and appropriate treatment is not provided,” the statement said.

The party alleged that the prison authorities were insisting on carrying out the treatment inside the prison, even though the doctors had clearly stated that such treatment was not possible within the jail premises and required an operation theater and specialized medical facilities.
“Imran Khan was last granted access to his personal doctor in October 2024 and since then, despite clear orders from the Islamabad High Court, his personal doctor has not been allowed to examine him,” the statement added, calling it a “gross violation of basic human rights” of an unprocessed prisoner.
He further claimed that a petition seeking regular medical check-ups was pending before the court since August 2025 and had been deliberately not accepted.
According to the party, the government’s conduct reflected political victimization. He accused the authorities of endangering the life and health of a prisoner in pursuit of political revenge and demanded that Imran be allowed an immediate meeting with his relatives and associates.
“The government is urged to facilitate an immediate meeting between Imran Khan and his family members and associates, without delay, to reassure the public and enable him to receive treatment at Shaukat Khanum Hospital or any other accredited hospital of his choice, where specialized doctors can provide care with complete medical facilities,” the statement read.
The party also urged the judiciary to take note of the matter, stressing that it is more about health than politics and that any negligence would be unacceptable.
“If, God forbid, Imran Khan were to suffer any permanent damage to his eyesight, the entire responsibility would lie squarely on the government and prison authorities for obstructing treatment despite court orders,” he concluded.

Uzma Khan, sister of the jailed PTI leader, said she developed an infection in her right eye two months ago. He said that during a meeting on December 2, which was limited to just 20 minutes, no clear information could be obtained about his eyesight or general health.
“If the meeting had been longer, more details might have emerged,” he said.
Uzma added that the family was not being provided any official information about Imran’s health and asked the government to issue an official statement clarifying his condition.
“We are repeatedly asked why we come to Adiala, but if we don’t go there, where else are we supposed to go?” she said.
