The president of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI), the lawyer Gohar Ali Khan, dismissed on Monday any connection between his party and the “Pakistan Democracy Law” recently presented in the House of Representatives of the United States, which seeks sanctions to Pakistani officials about alleged human rights abuse.

Speaking to the journalists of the Chamber of Parliament, Gohar said: “Innumerable laws and resolutions are approved in the United States Congress. PTI has no link with this particular bill.” He also clarified that the party has not had contact with the US delegation that Pakistan currently visited.

The bill, presented last month by two US legislators, invokes the Law of Human Rights of Magnitsky Global and asks sanctions against persons accused of persecuting the founder of PTI Imran Khan. Proposes visa prohibitions and entry restrictions for Pakistani officials allegedly involved in human rights violations.

Regarding political developments, Gohar said that PTI would end its future strategy after forming an alliance with other opposition parties. He pointed out that the Chief of Jui-F, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, will announce the position of his party on April 15 after internal consultations.

PTI has accelerated efforts to form a great opposition alliance after Eidul Fitr.

Last month, it Formally launched the tehreek-e-tahaffuz-e-Ayeen-e-pakistan (ttap), to coalition that includes The Sunni Ittehad Council (sic), Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (Pkmap), Balochistan National Partygal (BNP-M), Jamaat-E-Islami (JI), and Majlis Wahdat-E-Muslimeen (MWM).

In a separate movement, PTI also contacted former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to join the anti -government movement. Going to internal discord within PTI, Gohar said: “It is a Democratic party, and they are all free to express their opinion,” while encouraging leaders to manage matters of the parties internally.
