Islamabad:

The president of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI), the lawyer Gohar Ali Khan, said that there are currently no rear door negotiations in progress with the government, and that the dialogue process has not progressed.

In statements to the media near Adiala prison on Tuesday, he reiterated his position that all options should remain open in political struggles, emphasizing the importance of advancing in the process of dialogue with the right interested parties.

“PTI had never moved away from the negotiations, and the founder Imran Khan has constantly advocated the conversations,” he added.

The lawyer Gohar clarified that Imran Khan had rejected the negotiation government’s offer, stating that the government needed to take positive measures before the conversations could begin. He added that if a meeting with Imran Khan took place, the government’s offer would be discussed.

He also recalled a previous meeting in the Parliament where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had suggested to use the National Assembly speaker’s office to facilitate dialogue.

He confirmed that he had spent a month since the last time he met Imran Khan and that, due to the budget session, the meeting had been delayed. However, I hope that a meeting with Imran Khan leads to finding a resolution.

The president of PTI pointed out that the Superior Court of Islamabad had issued clear orders not to block meetings, emphasizing that such barriers should not hinder the process.

He pointed out that allowing more people to meet would bring positive and encouraging messages, especially considering that Imran Khan delivers messages constantly for the welfare of the nation.

The lawyer Gohar said that the immediate release of Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, remains a priority for PTI. More than 700 days have passed since their imprisonment, and emphasized that, at least, they should be given access to meetings.

He added that political progress should not be hindered by such obstacles. He said: “Once access is granted, we will discuss offers and we will also address the cards of the prisoners.”

The lawyer Gohar revealed that after his meeting with Imran Khan in the Adiala prison, several important discussions took place, including matters of parties, legal matters and the ongoing political movement.

He pointed out that such meetings, especially when restrictions such as the news blackout and the rights of limited visits are imposed, become more significant as the doors open to deeper discussions.
