Islamabad:
As a new political storm in Punjab, PTI announced on Friday that it will challenge the suspension of 26 of its MPA of the Punjab assembly through legal channels and public mobilization.
The opposition party denounced the “unconstitutional and partisan” conduct of the speaker, stating that he had no choice but to increase both inside and outside the assembly.
At a joint press conference in Islamabad, the secretary general of PTI Salman Akram Raja, the opposition leader at the Punjab Assembly, Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachaha, and the lawyer Senior Sardar Latif Khosa condemned the actions of the Punjab government.
The party leaders denounced the “theft of the mandate” on February 8 when Bhachar accused the political elite of installing a “false prime minister” while dragging PTI workers outside their homes. “A useless government that could not even use its past budget … if we have offended the dignity of a so -called ‘second queen’, then, so, we will continue to do it.”
Bhachaha promised that if the party was expelled from the assembly, it would simply establish a “real assembly” in the streets. “We don’t care about the seats, but history will remember you.”
Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Latif Khosa criticized the Government for repeatedly violating the Constitution, particularly with the amendment 26 followed by the 26 MPA suspension. He regretted the erosion of human rights: “They want to bring fascism to KP; this harms democracy.”
“The verdict of the Constitutional Bank in the reserved seats was shameful, the Electoral Commission is even more.” He defended the rights of leaders and workers imprisoned to meet with Imran Khan, criticizing the inaction for corruption reports in Adiala prison.
Similarly, Salman Akram Raja criticized the administration for writing a “history of cruelty and oppression.” “No member can be forced by the protest,” he said, adding that the party would resort to court, but doubted that the rule of law still existed.
