Peshawar:
The Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) maintained a protest in Peshawar against drone attacks in tribal districts, with the participation of government ministers, members of the Assembly and party officials.
PTI made it clear that drone attacks in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa are unacceptable and warned that if they do not stop, the party will take all necessary measures to stop them.
The protest was organized on the instructions of the founding president of PTI, who had requested demonstrations in the tribal areas.
The protest in the Hashtnagri area of Peshawar attended the provincial president of PTI, Junaid Akbar, the former president of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser, president of the Peshawar region, Atif Khan, provincial ministers Ihtesham Ali, Abdul Karim Tordher, Meena Khan Afridi, Arifhzai, Pir Masm. Sher Ali, Kamran Bangash, Fazal Elahi, Shandana Gulzar and other party officials.
The speakers of the protest condemned drone strikes, stating that innocent civilians are being attacked.
They described the attacks as a violation of human rights and an affront to national sovereignty, and urged the federal government to take an immediate notice.
They pointed out that the founding president of PTI has constantly opposed drone attacks and has raised his voice against them in international forums. Due to PTI’s position firm, no drone attacks occurred during their time.
The speakers added that the entire nation meets the position of the founding president.
PTI was the first part to oppose drone attacks and even organized a sitting to block NATO supply lines.
The founding president was the only leader who had the courage to say “absolutely not” to a superpower, claimed speakers.
“If these attacks do not stop, we will stop them ourselves,” the speakers warned. The provincial government has also issued a policy statement that declares that drone attacks will not be accepted within the province.
They stressed that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has suffered conflicts for more than 40 years, which has devastated its economy. The province depends largely on trade with Afghanistan and seeks good relations with its neighbor.
The leaders also promised to continue their fight against the 26th constitutional amendment and said that the nation would return to the streets to demand the release of the founding president of PTI.
They criticized Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, claiming that he only has a mandate of 16 seats and questioning the legitimacy of his administration, claiming that even the families of some government legislators do not recognize them as AMN.
