Islamabad: The Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) is contemplating changes within its central and political committees, with ongoing discussions among the main leaders of the party to eliminate controversial figures such as Shahbaz Gill of these bodies.

According to party experts, the proposed changes will be discussed with the imprisoned founding president of the party, Imran Khan, whose approval remains essential for any important restructuring.

In a related development, the PTI recently formally dissolved its Foreign Affairs and International Relations Committee. The Committee, established earlier this year on January 28, included prominent figures such as Zulfi Bukhari, Sajad Burki, Shahbaz Gill and Atif Khan.

The dissolution was announced through a notification issued by lawyer Gohar Khan, acting on the directives of Imran.

The sources reveal that the movement occurred in response to the concerns transmitted to Imran by some prominent PTI activists based in the US.

It is said that PTI’s American chapter, in particular, is divided over its approach to the Pakistan military establishment. While some members have adopted an aggressive position against the military and their leadership, others now advocate for dialogue and reconciliation.

This internal crack became more visible after a group of doctors and businessmen from the United States recently visited Islamabad, where, according to reports, they met with a high -level government official and Khan in the Adiala prison.

His efforts, perceived as an attempt to repair the ties between PTI and the military, caused criticism of the uncomproments within the diaspora of the party.

Party leaders who favor the approach believe that significant dialogue with the establishment is unlikely while aggressive factions within the PTI, and particularly their social media wings, continue to go openly to military leadership.

The possible elimination of certain people of influential positions within the PTI may indicate a broader strategy to recalibrate the party’s approach in advance of future political developments. The most serious party effort is to obtain relief for its imprisoned founding president.
