PTI Negotiation Committee member Sahibzada Hamid Raza has warned that if an impartial judicial commission is not set up by January 31 to investigate the events of May 9 and November 26, peace talks will not continue.

Speaking to the media after meeting PTI founder Imran Khan in Adiala Jail, Raza stated: “The ball is now in the government’s court. We have shown maximum flexibility.”

He added that the opposing party should come prepared for the next meeting with a clear plan to establish the judicial commission.

“We are not asking for a commission with judges of our choice, but rather that the highest-ranking judges of the Supreme Court can conduct an investigation and identify those responsible for both incidents,” he explained.

Raza further noted that the PTI is ready for the third round of negotiations, but stressed that the government must take practical steps on its two main demands: establishment of the judicial commission and release of detainees.

“We will present these demands in writing. In the third meeting, concrete measures must be taken,” he stated.

He also revealed that Imran Khan has fully authorized PTI negotiating committee chief Omar Ayub to sign the letter of demands, and emphasized that the party founder will not be personally involved in the executive orders.

Referring to the current £190m landmark case, Raza commented: “The decision in this case will not improve the country’s reputation.

Neither Imran Khan nor any member of his family are beneficiaries in this case. After the verdict, the tone of the negotiations may become more tense.”
