Islamabad:

In a movement that reflects the deepening of political restlessness, the parliamentary party of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) has decided to administer new oaths of loyalty to its legislators, amid the possible defections after a verdict of the Supreme Court on the reserved seats.

According to a report from Express news On Tuesday, the PTI has convened a crucial meeting of its parliamentary party in Islamabad on Wednesday. All members of the national and provincial assemblies affiliated with the party have been ordered to attend.

Party experts said that the main approach to the meeting will be the political dynamics evolving in the light of the recent decision of the Apex court, which eliminated PTI from its claim to almost 80 seats reserved in national and provincial legislatures.

The discussions will also focus on the political calculation in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), where changing alliances could be fundamental in the next few days.

Particularly in KP, where the independents supported by PTI, the leadership of the party remains distrustful of the obertures by the rival political forces are maintained. Thirty -five of these independents are expected to be aligned with PTI, resume the promises of loyalty, reaffirm their commitment to the party.

The sources confirmed that a similar oath exercise had been carried out after the elections, but the new fears of defections have caused a renewed action.

The short order of the Supreme Court, issued last week, revoked a verdict of July 12, 2024 that had restored the state of PTI as a parliamentary part and granted access to reserved seats.

The recent ruling has significantly altered the balance of power in the National Assembly, reinforcing the position of the ruling coalition, which is now within reach of a two -thirds majority, a result with long -range implications for constitutional amendments and governance.
