Islamabad:
The PTI Political Committee decided on Thursday to actively compete all the next partial elections, deciding not to leave the vacant political arena for the rivals, the sources said. The central committee of the party met here with Secretary General Salman Akram Raja in the President.
It was decided that the PTI would present to the candidates in each constituency where the seats fell vacancies and the partial elections would take place. It was also decided that the candidate would be nominated with the consent of the disqualified member.
However, the meeting saw strong emerging differences on the replacement nomination for opposition leaders Omar Ayub in the National Assembly and Shibli Faraz in the Senate, who had been convicted by the courts during the disturbances of May 9, 2023.
A message from the founder of PTI Imran Khan, sent through Ali Bukhari, declared that if Ayub and Faraz obtained relief from the courts, they would continue in their positions; Otherwise, Mehmood Achakzai and Senator Azam Swati should be considered for the publications of opposition leaders.
