Islamabad:
The PTI lawyer withdrew his request in a case regarding the case of transfer and seniority of the judges of the Superior Court of Islamabad (IHC), after the Constitutional Bank (CB) rebuked it on its objectable language.
The case was heard by a CB of five members, led by Judge Muhammad Ali Mazhar and including Judge Naeem Akhtar Afghan, Judge Shahid Bilal Hassan, Judge Salahuddin Panhwar and Judge Shakeel Ahmed. The lawyer Idrees Ashraf, who represents the founder of PTI, continued his arguments.
At one point, Judge Shahid Bilal Hassan asked the lawyer to read paragraph 4 of the petition, questioning: “What has he written? Any political leader in the country’s history has presented such a request?” He added: “My inclination is to rule out the request with a fine.”
Judge Mazhar commented that the content of the petition was shameful for the judges of the Superior Court. “If such words were used about me, I would also have felt ashamed,” Judge Mazhar said, referring to the content of the petition.
