Islamabad:
The federal government has fulfilled another key condition of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) by making public the assets of public officials. Now government officials of the 17th and superior must digitally submit their own assets and their family.
With the approval of the President, the Law of Public Officials (amendment) of 2025 has been issued through the notification of the Gazette. The establishment division has also sent the notification to all federal ministries and divisions.
A new section 15-A has been added to the Civil Officials Law of 1973, which establishes that the details of the assets of government officials will be made public through the Federal Income Board.
Officers will be required to reveal their national and foreign assets, as well as their financial position. The confidentiality of the personal information of any officer will be maintained.
Earlier this week, the Government imposed new taxes on the public online with the IMF conditions. It has introduced an oil climate support tax with an additional climate tax of RS2.50 per liter in gasoline, diesel and kerosene.
