A bomb exploded near a reproductive health center in Palm Springs, California, which resulted in the death of a person, said Mayor Ron Deharte to Reuters on Saturday.
ABC News, citing sources of application of the law and installation, said that at least five people were injured in the explosion.
The Government of the city of Palm Springs said in a Facebook post that an explosion occurred before 11 AM PDT (1800 GMT).
“It has been identified as a bomb that was in or near the car,” said Deharte.
The Federal Research Office in Los Angeles said in a publication on social networks that the explosion with bomb technicians deployed on the scene was investigating.
Palm Springs is about 100 miles (161 km) east of Los Angeles.
The governor of California, Gavin Newsom, has been informed about the explosion, said his office.
