LAHORE:
The Punjab Provincial High Committee took a holistic view of the security situation in the province and the measures being taken to address the challenges and mitigate multi-faceted threats, including intelligence-based joint operations.
In a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the committee paid tributes to the law enforcement agencies and security forces for their tireless efforts and sacrifices for peace in the country.
The committee stressed the need to register madrassas, regulate the use of loudspeakers and expel illegal foreigners who continue to disturb peace in the province.
The forum was briefed about the security plan for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy.
Special attention was paid on the security of border areas to break the nexus between crime, illegal spectrum and terrorism, besides ensuring the safety of foreign nationals, especially Chinese nationals employed in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and other projects.
The forum also reported on massive capacity building of anti-terrorism department and police and expansion of Punjab Safe City Project to all districts.
He reaffirmed the joint determination to continue working in synergy to ensure public safety and well-being.
