LAHORE:
The Punjab Government has announced an annual development program (ADP) RS1.24 billion rupees (ADP) for fiscal year 2025–26, aimed at accelerating economic growth, improving infrastructure and expanding access to critical public services throughout the province.
According to budget documents, the development allocation includes RS314.1 billion for capital expenses, RS801.5 billion for revenue -based projects and RS124.3 billion in assistance of foreign projects. It has been allocated to RS233.4 billion additional for special and development initiatives. The plan seeks to balance ongoing projects with new schemes, aligned with the long -term development agenda of Punjab.
The social sectors represent most of the ADP, which receives RS493.5 billion. This includes RS100 billion for school education, RS39.5 billion for higher education, RS5 billion for special education, RS4 billion for literacy and non -formal education, RS7.6 billion for sports and young matters, 95 billion for specialized health and medical education, and RS86 billion for the general health and well -being of the population.
Water and sanitation supply projects will receive RS6 billion, social welfare RS7 billion, development of RS14 billion women and development of the local government and community development RS142 billion.
Infrastructure development has received RS335.5 billion, and the road sector received RS120 billion to improve connectivity, particularly between rural and urban areas.
The irrigation sector is assigned RS38 billion, including RS10.3 billion foreign assistance, to modernize water management systems to improve agricultural productivity and climatic resistance.
The energy sector will receive RS7.5 billion, while RS25 billion will be allocated to public buildings. Urban development will receive RS145 billion, including RS24.2 billion in foreign aid.
A total of RS164.2 billion are dedicated to production sectors such as agriculture, livestock, fishing, forestry and cooperatives. Agriculture has been assigned RS80 billion, guidance mechanization, improved irrigation and better seed quality.
The development of livestock and dairy is assigned RS5 billion, and fishing and forestry together will receive RS15 billion. In addition, they have been allocated to RS10.5 billion for price control and basic products management, RS10 billion for the conservation of wildlife and RS5 billion for the Cooperatives Department.
In support of Employment and Youth Innovation, RS12 billion for the development of skills and entrepreneurship initiatives have been assigned. The industry and trade sector has also received RS12 billion, aimed at promoting small businesses, development of industrial parks and attracting investments.
Tourism has been assigned RS18 billion to support heritage preservation, hospitality infrastructure and promotional activities. The mining and mineral sector will receive RS12 billion.
The service sectors will benefit from RS141.6 billion in funds. The governance and IT reforms are being prioritized with RS35 billion assigned for digital transformation, electronic government and the improvement of services. The labor and human resources development will receive RS20.4 billion, while the transport sector receives RS85 billion, which will be used to present electric buses in several cities in the province.
Emergency services, including 1122 rescue, RS12 billion have been assigned to strengthen the response to disasters and emergency medical services. Environmental protection initiatives and climate change are also being supported with RS15 billion.
Special development initiatives are budgeted at RS30.2 billion, while RS38 billion have been reserved for planning and development operations. The Plan includes dedicated funds for minority, human rights, religious matters and cultural preservation, with the aim of promoting inclusive development.
The new key initiatives under the ADP include the APNI Chhat Apna Ghar housing project with an assignment of RS50 billion, and the Saaf Pani program of the main minister with total disbursement of RS15 billion and assignment of RS5 billion.
The Government will strengthen new PHA and WASA throughout the province with RS10 billion and launch the Punjab development program of the main minister worth RS25 billion.
Other local development projects include the Model Village program, the Sustainable Water supply and sanitation project RS96 billion Punjab Punjab, and the Murree Development Program Phase 2.
In the transport sector, RS89 billion has been assigned to present more than 600 ecological buses in the main cities, with RS45.9 billion in this fiscal year. High speed train feasibility studies and tourist trains have received seed money, as well as urban mass transport systems in Lahore, Faisalabad and Gujranwala.
Other initiatives include regional rail planning, a Punjab airline Proposal and infrastructure development for electric buses in LaHore under the Punjab clean air program.
