Punjab Govt grants pensions for life to widows

The Punjab Government has raised the minimum provincial wage to RS40,000 per month and secured life pensions for the widows of government employees. The reforms were adopted during the 28th Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz, where an integral agenda of 130 points was approved.

The cabinet approved the allocation of 1,220 floors for industrial workers in the work colonies of Sunder, Kasur and Taxila to be distributed through the vote, while firmly rejecting suggestions to collect workers for the house. He also instructed officials to take immediate measures to build 3,000 additional floors at no cost to these workers.

The educational policy saw an important update with official evaluations confirmed for grade V and formal exams for degree VIII. Meanwhile, life pensions were approved for widows of government employees, improving social protection.

A significant salary reform was also approved, with a minimum monthly salary of RS40,000 established for 102 categories of qualified, semi-qualified and others.

In recognition of flood rescue efforts, the CM announced RS50,000 bonds for the rescue worker while praising the agency’s performance and stressed the government’s commitment to support first -line workers.

When expanding in the penitentiary reform, the Cabinet sanctioned the formal industries within the correctional facilities where inmates will receive wages and directed the establishment of a third -party monitoring system for jail operations.

To promote private investment, approval was granted for a portal of online gasoline pump license that requires only six documents instead of sixteen, allowing investors to obtain digitally, a movement described as a “historical step” towards the business of ease of doing.

The safety of workers was also addressed by adopting the Occupational Health and Safety Rules of Punjab 2024, marking the first in the province. Maryam ordered the creation of a specialized application force to ensure compliance with high -risk sectors, such as construction and sewerage operations.

She emphasized that promulgating laws alone is not enough: implementation and application at all levels are essential, since the lives of poor workers are invaluable.

Government officials also approved child labor restrictions through the Punjab Child Labor rules (prohibition) 2024, Unified Appointment Procedures for key university administrators, AI -based traffic systems that will be implemented within 90 days, WASA Services Expansion to 13 new cities, paid internships for hospital nurses and various legislative measures to recruit Telecommunications, telecommunications liquidation, sugar investigations and local government acts.
