Punjab increases action against illegal hunting practices


The Punjab Wildlife Department recovered four network gears and issued three Challans, imposing fines worth RS55,000 in Chinint.

The Department of Wildlife of Punjab has intensified its repression throughout the province against illegal hunting of wild animals and birds, with multiple operations that lead to arrests, seizures, strong fines and the case record.

According to a departmental spokesman, the campaign is heading under the supervision of the Chief of Ranger of Wildlife Mubeen Elahi.

A FIR was filed in Okara against two people accused of illegally quail hunting. In fine, the officials confiscated 13 network gears, arrested three suspects and presented a FIR during the raids. In Jhang, two network gears were taken and two Challans were issued, with a fine of RS30,000 imposed in one case.

Similar actions were carried out in Vehari, Khanewal and Attock, where several offenders were penalized under the provisions of the Wildlife Law.

In addition, in a significant operation against the poaching of the partridge, three hunters were fined with RS70,000.

By reaffirming the department’s commitment, the spokesman declared that wildlife protection teams remain active throughout Punjab and continue to follow strict legal actions against those involved in illegal hunting and capture.
