The immigration of the Federal Research Agency (FIA) has successfully frustrated an attempt to contraband four women to Saudi Arabia under the appearance of Umrah visas, revealing a network of trafficking in persons involving a former official of the Punjab police.
The women were discharged at the Karachi airport after being found that were heading to Saudi Arabia, where they were supposedly sent by forced labor, said Express News.
Women, identified as Shazia Bano, Zameera Azeem, Lubna and Healthy Shehzadi, had been previously sent to the Gulf kingdom in similar circumstances.
The investigations revealed that the key figure behind the trafficking ring was a woman named ESOYA, a former Punjab police employee, who had financed the victims’ travel expenses.
In addition, a man named Waseem Gujjar, an agent, had been facilitating the stay of women and other expenses in Saudi Arabia.
In another operation, the FIA arrested two passengers, Ellis and Ryan, who arrived in Pakistan in emergency passports. The suspects reached the SV700 flight number, and it was discovered that their emergency passports were false.
The statement pointed out that the emergency stamps in passports were fraudulent, and the citizenship of the two suspects was also questionable.
Both suspects were transferred to the antihuman traffic circle in Karachi for new legal actions, and investigations are ongoing.
Last month, the Immigration team of the FIA fruscó an important operation of trafficking in people at Islamabad airport.
