LAHORE:
Punjab Prime Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved in principle a plan for the construction, repair and restoration of 170 tourist sites and trails in the province.
By chairing a meeting, he also approved a proposal to establish the first Tourism and Heritage authority of Punjab. It was decided that the tourist sites would be developed in several cities, including Lahore, finen, Bahawalpur, Chakwal and Jhelum.
Participants agreed to develop the Forest Park of Manga Changa and the Lal Suhanra National Park for the promotion of ecotourism. It was also agreed at the meeting that the Punjab Tourism and Heritage Authority Law will be presented to improve governance for tourism promotion.
The participants were informed in an informative session that the first Punjab complete tourism application had been developed and would soon be launched.
The application will allow a virtual tour of 170 tourist destinations. The ‘magnificent Punjab application’ includes all the characteristics related to tourism, including travel and hotels reserves. The delivery of food and other services will also be obtained through the application together with the information through a chatbot.
The main minister approved the largest and most complete tourism plan for Punjab, under which religious, historical, ancient, antiques and ecotourism inheritance will be promoted throughout the province.
Tourist villages will also be built to give them a sense of proximity to ancient civilization.
The tourist paths will also be developed for the first time in Punjab.
Mall Road, the walled city of Lahore, the SIJS sites and the Mogoles of GT Road monuments are included in the tourist paths. Salt Range, Bhati Gate, Gujranwala, Aimanabad and the SIJ tourism trails will also be developed. According to the plan, the tourist places of several cities will be developed as tourism groups.
The Taxila Museum, Dharma Rachi Ka, Jolian, Sarkep and Giri Fort related to Gandhara’s civilization are also included in the tourism plan.
The living heritage site of Qila Kuhna Qasim Bagh will be restored as a symbol of the Indo Valley civilization.
A path in Uch Sharif will be developed for the comfort of the pilgrims.
A proposal was also reviewed to restore the old buildings of Gurdwaras and Iglesias for the promotion of tourism.
Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz said on the occasion: “We are sitting the basis for the promotion of global tourism in Punjab.”
She said the government wanted to develop all tourist destinations according to international standards. Taxila will become a complete tourist site where a five -star hotel will also be built.
She added: “We have put our full approach in the promotion of tourism in Punjab, where a tourist center will be established.”
