Queen Camilla has made it her life’s goal to support rape survivors, encouraging them and uniting them to combat this social threat.
The 78-year-old won hearts with her latest move amid Andrew’s fallout over his connections to convicted padophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Camilla wrote a personal letter to a rape survivor, expressing her “heartfelt admiration for the courage, grace and dignity” with which the woman faced the crimes committed against her.
In her letter, the Queen told Elicot that she had “inspired women around the world” and “created a powerful legacy that will change the narrative around shame, forever.”
Gisèle Pelicot praised the Queen for her touching gesture, revealing: “It was an honor for me to receive this letter, I was not expecting it at all.”
The survivor became emotional as she explained her feelings, saying: “Overwhelmed that the Queen could send me this letter.”
It came as a complete surprise to Pelicot when he said: “Although my words moved the whole world, I did not expect a letter from the Court of England.”
Pelicot suffered nearly a decade of abuse at the hands of her ex-husband, who drugged and raped her repeatedly.
She also recruited men through the Internet to attack her.
Pelicot made the notable decision to waive his legal right to remain anonymous. The process, which transformed her into an international symbol of resilience and strength, continued for 15 weeks in Avignon in 2024.
Their goal was to make “shame change sides” from the victim to the rapist.
