QUREshi, the bail supplications of Asad Umar dismissed in the cases of May 9

LAHORE:

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) dismissed on Wednesday the supplications prior to the bail of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Asad Umar in cases related to the disturbances of May 9 after the arrest of the Supreme of the Imran Khan party.

As the procedures began on Wednesday, Qureshi was not produced before the Court or represented by any lawyer, which led the judge to dismiss his bail requests in two cases linked to the violence of May 9.

In the case of Asad Umar, his lawyer submitted a request in search of an exemption from a day of personal appearance, citing the petitioner’s disease. However, the ATC judge expressed his discontent for repeated absences, stating that such conduct was intolerable.

The judge commented that Umar had not appeared in previous hearings and that relief could not be granted in such circumstances.

After reserving the verdict for a brief period, the judge later announced the dismissal of both bail statements.
