Federal Railroad Minister Hanif Abbasi has issued a one-year directive to eliminate engineering restrictions in the ML-1 rail line, in an attempt to reduce travel durations on key routes, Express News reported.
By chairing a meeting at the Railroad headquarters in Lahore on Monday, Abbasi was informed about the development of infrastructure and reviewed the performance of several rail divisions. He instructed the authorities to take immediate steps to improve travel times along ML-1, Pakistan’s main railway corridor.
The minister also directed that the work in the Karachi section -Hyderabad (Kemari -Hyderabad) will begin without delay and requested the acceleration of monitoring rehabilitation projects.
Abbasi established specific deadlines for infrastructure improvements, instructing the project director to deliver sleeping sleeps to install within six months. He also urged to complete a two -year project within one year and that four tampas machines are operated by the end of the year.
Citing the accelerated development model of Shehbaz Sharif of his days as Punjab CM, Abbasi encouraged the railway administration to follow his example and increase the income per charge while approaching income leaks.
To improve efficiency and transparency, the minister announced updates to the online reserve system of the passenger train and ordered that the process of reserve of loading trains be completely digitized, eliminating human interference.
Abbasi requested a list of unauthorized residents in the rail colonies and imposed a complete prohibition of retired officials and unrelated persons that are housed in the railroad houses.
It also issued a performance objective: reach 90-95% punctuality in trains operations within three months. “Personally, I will monitor the training punctuality: no train will be delayed, including the minister,” he emphasized.
Other directives included improve the cleaning and quality of food in trains. Abbasi also announced that he would make surprise visits to stations and offices, without prior notice or personal, to evaluate the performance in the soil.
Monthly performance reviews will be applied to division superintendents (DSS). The meeting also approved the installation of elevators in all the main railroad stations, starting with Rawalpindi.
