Islamabad:

Pakistan Railways (PR) has registered gross profits from RS65.17 billion during the fiscal year of July-March 2025, marking a robust increase of 21 percent compared to RS53.70 billion in the same period last year, driven by a significant increase in passenger and load volumes in the national rail network.

According to the 2024-25 economic survey presented on Monday by the Minister of Finance Muhammad Aurengzeb, the data highlights Pakistan Railways as a cornerstone of the country’s transport infrastructure, playing a vital role in promoting national integration and economic development.

Meanwhile, the 2024-25 economic survey highlighted a significant financial change for PIA, the national flag operator.

According to the survey, PIA registered an operational gain of RS9.3 billion in 2024, more than double its gain of RS3.9 billion in 2023.

This marks the second consecutive year of operational profitability for the airline, which reflects continuous progress under a strategic reform plan.
