LAHORE:
The recent heavy rains have damaged a part of Sardar Mahan Singh’s historic Samadhi, located in Sheranwala Bagh, Gujranwala. Upon receiving reports from the incident, the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) initiated immediate restoration measures.
After the preparation of an initial evaluation report, repair and restoration work has already begun to avoid more damage to the heritage site.
The ETPB secretary formally recommended to the district administration that the MC Girls school adjacent to the Samadhi is relocated to another building to guarantee the safety of students and personnel of any potential risk.
Meanwhile, Gujranwala administrator together with the ETPB technical team will remain in the place to supervise all precaution and restoration efforts.
Sardar Mahan Singh’s Samadhi is considered a valuable part of the history of the subcontinent and SIJ heritage.
