LAHORE: The leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), Rana Sanaullah, was declared successful in the partial elections of the Senate on Tuesday, according to unofficial and not confirmed results.

The seat had fallen vacant after the disqualification of PTI Chaudhry ejaz after his conviction in the cases of May 9.

The surveys took place in the Punjab Assembly from 9 am to 4 pm, where 251 votes were issued in total. Only a ballot was rejected during the counting process. Sanaullah, who required 181 votes to win, comfortably exceeded the threshold with a dominant margin.

Pakistan’s candidate Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) Salma Ejaz could not secure any vote, since the opposition boycotted the survey.

The provincial electoral commissioner and the return officer (RO) Sharifullah formally announced the result after the completion of the voting vote.
