Rangers officer reserved for alleged COP murder

An official of the paramilitary Rangers has been reserved for allegedly killing a police officer published at the Gulshan-E-Maymar Police Station. The FIR was registered at the Police Station of Site A for the complaint of the victim’s father, the Nazir Hussain sub -inspector.

According to Nazir, his 30 -year -old son, Waseem Akhtar, was serving in the Sindh police as an agent. Around 9:30 am on Thursday, Waseem left home for service on his motorcycle. Around 1 PM, Nazir received a phone call informing him that a message circulating in a WhatsApp group said his son had been killed. When he tried to call Waseem’s mobile phone, the call was answered by Sho Site-a Imran Afridi, who asked him to hurry at the Abbasi Shaheed hospital.

Nazir was taken to the morgue, where he identified his son’s body. Nazir said Waseem had gunshot wounds in the arm and right chest.

Nazir said his son was riding his motorcycle in Manghopir Road, in the site area, when he was stopped by an armed motorcyclist, who according to the reports opened fire without provocation, hitting the chest and arm. Waseem returned the fire in self -defense and is believed to have injured the assailant in the leg.

Nazir also declared that he later came to know through reports from the media that the shooter was identified as a soldier of the paramilitary rangers called Noman. He claimed that Noman fatally shot his son without any known reason.

Police registered FIR under section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistan Criminal Code.
