- Razer has revealed a new line of Blackshark v3 Pro headphones
- There are dedicated versions for PC, PlayStation and Xbox
- It is part of the broader thrust of the brand in the console space
The Razer Game Hardware brand has presented the new Razer Blackshark V3 Pro line, with dedicated options for PC, PlayStation and Xbox Gamers.
A successor of the already excellent Razer Blackshark V2 Pro, an enormously popular headset that we grant four five -star in our review, the Razer Blackshark V3 Pro presents the hybrid cancellation of active noise (ANC) for the first time in a blackshark headset.
It has four microphones to detect and help filter background noise, in addition to comfortable memory foam lands to provide an ideal adjustment.
It is also the first Razer headset that benefits from the new GEN-2 wireless technology of Hyperspeed Gen-2, reducing audio latency as low as a claimed 10 milliseconds. That, according to Razer, puts it far ahead of the competition and makes it an ideal option for professional players.
In addition to a slightly reviewed general design, there have been substantial changes under the hood. The headset now has 50 mm triforce controllers gen-2 with bio-celulose diaphragms, completely redesigned for more precise audio and spatial accuracy.
The microphone has also been updated, with a 48 kHz a whopping that places it in competition with some of the best microphones to transmit at this time.
The Razer Blackshark V3 Pro is launched in three variants, each adapted to its different platforms. The PC version admits the THX space audio, while the PlayStation variant is fully compatible with 3D Audio Tempest. Xbox options are then designed with Windows Sonic Spatial Sound in mind.
The three cost $ 249.99 / £ 249.99 each, and come in combinations of black or white colors. While Xbox and PC versions are now available, the PlayStation variant will reach the shelves on a later date.
They are launched together with the most affordable Razer Blackshark V3 and the Razer Blackshark V3 X Hyperspeed of entry level. Both models also come in different flavors of PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
Razer goes in the console space
The launch of these new headphones represents a change for the hardware brand traditionally very focused on PC, which now aims to become an important player in the console space.
“So I think that in the past, we had really worked as very separate entities in regards to the PC and the console,” explains the evangelist of Razer’s senior products, Paige Sander.
“We step back and realized that, since we have so much credibility and innovation in the PC space, why not carry some of those iconic things, such as Blackshark v2 pro or as our mouse click switches, and take them to our console products?”
In the end, “it is about bringing those innovations to console players to obtain the same level of performance and characteristics centered on electronic sports,” although Sander admits that there are some special considerations when designing a console product.
“The most important thing is to make sure that it is really optimized for the platform for which it is built. That is why we make a controlle adjustment specifically on the platforms, to ensure that the audio is really marked,” he says. “In addition, things like the 3.5 mm connector. We know that many console players like to plug the headphones directly to their controllers, so we ensure that this feature was present.”
Razer is also carefully considering the feedback of Pro Players, a formula that has proven successful for its PC products.
“We also work specifically with professionals in the space of the ‘Snip3Down’ console in Xbox, ‘Shotzzy’ in PlayStation,” says Sander.
“These are their favorite platforms when they are playing, so we make sure to work directly with them in the development of their FPS profiles, in some of the design elements such as the subtle Xbox and PlayStation Stures that you will see in our headphones.”
According to the Circan Market Research firm, Razer Blackshark V2 Pro is currently the most popular PC games headphones in the United States.
Will Razer find a similar success in the console market? Only time will say it, but I am certainly anxious to take these new models to turn around.
