- Resonant control won’t let you play as Jesse Faden, Remedy confirms
- Remedy says, “This is Dylan’s experience,” but Jesse will still have an “important role” in the game.
- “So I just wanted to get this out there because we don’t want to mislead players,” says Remedy’s communications director.
Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that ControlJesse Faden’s main character will not be playable in Resonant control.
That’s according to Remedy communications director Thomas Puha, who told Eurogamer during a digital preview event that Dylan Faden, Jesse’s brother and star of ResonantHe will be the only playable character.
“I just want to get this out of the way, because we’ve seen quite a bit of speculation online,” Puha said, adding that Remedy generally loves to see speculation about its games, but, “in this case, I want to confirm that Jesse Faden is not a playable character in Resonant control“.
However, while Jesse will not be playable, the developer said he will have an “important role” alongside Dylan in the sequel.
I mean, she was in the announcement trailer, so she’s a big part of the game, but you can’t play her,” Puha said, but didn’t go into detail. “This is Dylan’s experience, very much. “So I just wanted to bring that to light because we don’t want to mislead the players.”
Resonant control launches this year for PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC.
As mentioned above, you play as Dylan Faden, who must hunt a powerful resonating enemy within a warped Manhattan.
Like his sister, Dylan also has supernatural abilities, but he will wield a shape-shifting weapon called Aberrant and prioritize hand-to-hand combat.
Remedy described Resonant as an action role-playing game (RPG) without inventory management, but insists: “This is not a soulslike.”
“It is an action-driven game with an aggressive gameplay style. The player is in charge and not [simply] reacting. The main driver of combat is you,” said lead game designer Sergey Mohov.
