Repatriation: The Government ensures human treatment

With only two remaining days before the deadline for illegal foreign residents and the owners of the Afghan Citizen Card (ACC) to leave Pakistan, the authorities reaffirmed on Saturday that the repatriation process will take place without abuse. The Government has assured that food and medical care facilities have been organized for those who return. However, strict legal actions will continue against people who remain in Pakistan beyond the deadline. It is pertinent to observe that, according to the Government Directive, all foreigners and holders of indocumented ACCs must leave the country on March 31. By March 28, the number of Afghan citizens who had left Pakistan had increased to 882,768, and the process continues at full pace. It is pertinent to observe that a high -level meeting was reported on Friday that the Government has completed the preparations to stop and deport a specific category of Afghan citizens once the March 31 deadline for voluntary repatriation expires. Chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the meeting was reported that all the necessary arrangements had been established to repatriate the owners of ACC. The authorities declared that tenure centers have been established to accommodate Afghan citizens before deportation, equipped with food and medical care facilities. Naqvi said the federal government was closely coordinating with the provincial authorities to guarantee a repatriation process without problems. He said that Islamabad would extend full support to the provinces to execute the operation. Meanwhile, the UN (IIM) International Migration Organization reported an increase in the number of Afghan citizens who returned to their country of origin, either voluntarily or through deportation. The report indicated that the number of Afghans returning in the third week of March was 102% higher than those who left Afghanistan during the same period. According to the IOM flow monitoring snapshot, 73,364 people entered Afghanistan, while 36,166 Afghan left the country during the same period. The report attributed this unusual increase in the movements of Pakistan and will go to voluntary returns of Afghan citizens. In addition, compared to the previous week, the entrance to Afghanistan increased by 2%, while the departure decreased by 13%, highlighting the continuous repatriation trend.
