A Rickshaw driver who stole a woman’s dowry articles was quickly arrested by the police in Sheikhupura.
According to a Safe City spokesman, the driver fled with the woman’s value objects, which caused a quick action of the Smart Sefe Sheikhupura team, which led to his capture.
The woman reported the theft through the Help Line 15, and upon receiving their complaint, the authorities used safe city cameras to track the movements of the suspect.
The Virtual Patrol officer tracked the Rickshaw route to identify the driver’s location.
The spokesman added that the Virtual Patrol officer provided all the necessary evidence to the Local Police, which led to the driver’s arrest in hours.
Since then, the police have returned the women’s dowry articles, valued in two and a half Lakh rupees, and has initiated legal procedures against the driver.
A similar incident occurred in Karachi before, a Rickshaw driver fled with the dowry articles of a family in the Karachi Nazimabad area, leaving the victims distressed weeks before a wedding.
CCTV images of the incident have emerged on social networks, which caused calls to police action.
According to the affected family, the incident took place when they hired a Rickshaw from a market in Liaquatabad to transport household items to the city of Orangi.
Stolen products included utensils and other essential elements bought for an upcoming wedding.
