The Federal Government appointed the senior police officer Riffat Mukhtar Raja as the new general director of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), according to an official notification issued by the establishment division.
Riffat, a 21 -grade officer of the Pakistan Police Service (PSP), previously served as inspector General of the National Roads and Highway Police (NH & MP) and also held the position of Chief of Police of Sindh in the past.
It provides extensive experience of application of the law to the FIA, taking charge of the main investigation agency of the country at a critical moment.
In a separate movement, Waqar-Din-Din Syed has been appointed the first general director of the recently established National Cyber Crime Research Agency (NCCIA), which operates under the interior division.
Waqar, a PSP Officer of Grade 20 and former director of the Circle of Cyber crimes of the FIA, recently received the Sitara-E-Imtiaz for its role in the combination of online crimes.
The appointments reflect the government’s approach in reinforcing the capacity for investigation and cybersecurity amid growing threats.
The establishment division confirmed the appointments through formal notification.
