“In just two tweets, Simone Biles basically tarnished their reputation with any person with a hint of honesty, anyone with a moral compass and anyone with an inherent desire to protect women, to fight for equal opportunities for men and women, especially in regards to sports,” he said. “The conclusion that I am drawing based on the answer we have seen in the last 12 hours at this time on social networks, has basically incinerated its legacy in just two tweets.”

Biles threw himself into an attack on Gaines on Friday when the former American swimmer of the NCAA reacted to a transgender athlete who won a state championship in the Softball de Minnesota.

The Olympic gymnast called Gaines a “thug” and said that “nobody in sports is safe with you.”

Gaines said during his podcast that he believed that Biles’s publication showed that he could have finished competing in gymnastics with his apparent support for transgender athletes, taking a page from Megan Rapinoe’s play book. Rapinoe said in 2023 that he would support a transgender player in the US national team. UU. He retired from sport later that year.

“What he has done here is to lift the ladder behind her,” Gaines said on Biles. “We have seen people like Megan Rapinoe do this. Simone Biles is the last one in which he has apparently finished competing. Like Megan Rapinoe, he waited until they finished competing to adopt a position on this subject, which for my life I cannot understand.

“Meet me of the equation. Again, I don’t care about personal attacks. I can’t understand why Simone Biles, in 2025, would advocate this.”

Biles said he would welcome a debate or discussion to talk about the issue of transgender athletes in girls and women’s sports. Gaines has been at the forefront of defending justice in women’s sports since he tied with Lia Thomas in the NCAA championships of 2022.

“I think she defended blindly for this without really thinking about the effects of how this would be,” said Gaines. “How nobody would know Simone Biles if it weren’t for female gymnastics … if his inclusive dream were a reality, he would have zero gold medals.”
