Rawalpindi:
The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), which acts as the Executive Agency, has announced that more than 70 percent of the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project has been completed.
The project provides for the development of logistics and education centers, a city of health, Puerto Seco, business centers, industrial areas, transport terminals, wholesale markets, recreational parks and residential communities along both sides of the corridor. Recently a special meeting was held in the economic zones of Ring Road in the RDA, chaired by the general director Kinza Murtaza. In his direction, he stressed the transformative impact of the project, emphasizing that not only would it relieve traffic congestion in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, but also providing residents with a cleaner, healthier and more safe environment.
He added that the initiative would stimulate the regional economy, create new employment opportunities and improve civic comforts, while assuring participants that construction will be completed with an expedition.
The main advisor of the OIC, Professor Dr. Shahid Mahmood, praised the project as a long -awaited need for twin cities, pointing out that it would act as a catalyst for growth, particularly in the areas of expansion of southwest Rawalpindi.
He recommended that the establishment of Special Economic Zones (Sez) is complemented with modern urban planning, the application of ecological construction codes and urban regeneration measures to permanently stop illegal invasions.
He also said that the GDR would continue to support the business community and encourage the participation of the private sector, emphasizing that Pakistan’s economic challenges could be better approached through greater private investment and the promotion of exports.
He said that investors in the Ring Road economic zones would receive all possible facilities.
Former Naghmana Hashmi ambassador also spoke at the meeting, and said that the main objective of the Ring Road project was to strengthen economic ties and improve the efficiency of transport between twin cities. The meeting was attended by the additional director Rda Mansoor Ahmed Khan, the chief planner, the MP & Te, the control of the construction of the director, the director of the director and other senior officials.
