The WNBA regular season has entered its local section. But before it reaches its conclusion, the League announced that a record number of fans attended games this season.
Until Wednesday, “2,501,609 fans” dedicated themselves to the WNBA games in person, which established the “record of assistance of all time,” said the League. The figure exceeded the previous brand that was established in 2002.
The WNBA had 16 teams at that time, but it is currently composed of only 13 franchises. It also took WNBA 256 games to reach the milestone in 2002.

The explosion of popularity in female university basketball, initially stimulated by the rivalry of Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese, moved to the WNBA last season when both players were rookies.

While Clark and Reese have lost their time due to injuries this season, ticket sale has not decreased thanks to the arrival of the rookie guard Paige Bueckers in Dallas, curiosity for the Golden State Valkyries expansion and expanded television coverage.

The regular season is wrapped in mid -September. The Lynx de Minnesota has already achieved a place in the playoffs, while Chicago Sky, Connecticut Sun and Dallas Wings have already been officially eliminated from the postseason containment.

The WNBA expanded the 40 -game calendar last year to 44 games this season.
