- Romero Games has announced that his editor has retired the funds for his next game not announced.
- Multiple employees have now resorted to social networks to say that they have been fired from Romero Games due to Microsoft’s latest cuts
- A former employee says that the “full study” has been fired
Romero Games has announced that the financing for his next game has retired, since multiple employees claim that the entire study has been affected by the latest Microsoft cuts.
In a publication on social networks, the co -founder of Romero Games, Brenda Romero, shared a statement saying that the team learned last night that its editor has canceled the funds for its next project, “together with several other projects not announced in other studies.”
“This was a strategic decision taken at a high level within the editor, well above our visibility or control,” Romero said. “We deeply wish that there has been something, anything, we could have done to avoid this result.
“This is not a reflection of the work, the performance or quality of the project itself. We reach all the milestones in time, each time, we receive great praise and easily pass all our internal doors.
“We are currently evaluating the next steps and working quickly to support our team. Many of us have worked together for more than a decade, some for more than 20 years. It is an extremely difficult day, and we are disconsolate, it has come to this.”
Romero does not explicitly say that the loss of financing was due to Microsoft’s employment cuts, but after the statement was published, Christoph Redl, a former hard surface artist in the study, said in a publication on social networks that “due to the recent dismissals of Xbox, I have lost my position in Romero Games” and now looks for work.
Another former employee has also led LinkedIn and said that “the entire study is being fired due to dismissals in Microsoft.”
In writing, more than a dozen Romero Games employees have publicly declared that they are looking for work due to dismissals (through IGN).
“Today I discovered that our entire study is being fired due to layoffs in Microsoft,” said another former employee.
“A very sad day,” another wrote. “My heart breaks to say that Romero’s games were victims of 9,100 Microsoft layoffs today. The best team I have worked with and the work of my dreams was like that. It really was a great project and it is difficult to process that it ended. It’s nothing less than tragic.”
Microsoft announced that yesterday it would make changes in their studies, which until now has resulted in mass employment cuts that have seen at least 9,000 members of the affected personnel.
Multiple games have also been canceled, including Perfect dark, Alwaysand an unnoticed MMO of The Elder Scrolls Online study. Developer The initiative has also been closed.
