Mcilroy said his round “worries me”, and what professional golfist would not be worried after loading a quadruple bogey, as well as a double bogey and four bogeys to go with only two birdies.

“You don’t want to shoot high scores like the one I did today,” Mcilroy said, according to ESPN. “Still, I felt that I was obviously coming here with a new driver thinking that this kind of being good and solving some of the shirt problems, but it was not so.”

The Mcilroy pilot has been a point of emphasis since the PGA championship last month, where it was leaked that he had an unusable pilot that was unusable after the tests prior to the tournament.

Scottie Scheffler, the winner of Quail Hollow Club that week, also had an unpinned driver, but his name was not publicly known. However, Mcilroy was marked with his name that came out, and the entire tournament was skipped. Then ended T-47th.

Before leaving this week in Toronto, Mcilroy admitted to being annoying because his enigma of drivers had made public.

“I was a little out because I knew that Scottie’s driver had failed on Monday, but my name was the one who leaked,” Mcilroy said at a press conference, through the New York Post. “He was supposed to remain confidential. Two media members were the ones who leaked him.

“I didn’t want to get there and say something I regret, because I’m trying to protect Scottie. I don’t want to mention his name. I’m trying to protect Taylormade, I’m trying to protect USGA, PGA from America, myself.”

Then, Mcilroy’s Tee shots were going to be under a microscope this week because I would be working with a new driver, and it was not as consistent as it is usually.

Mcilroy is one of the best tour drivers, currently classifying in Strokes he won the TEE, while he is third in the driving distance with an average shot of 319.3 yards.

But with the Rough At Oakmont Country Club that has the ability to swallow golf balls and ruin the rounds next week in the US Open, the precision of Mcilroy must be much better than it has been. It occupies the 170th position in driving precision, reaching 51.13% of the time.

At least being cut this week’s tournament gives Mcilroy a couple more days to discover his driver before bringing him at the US Open on Thursday.
