Islamabad:
All interested parties have agreed to provide sugar to consumers at a reduced rate in Ramazan, which is expected to begin from March 1. The Government will provide a subsidy of RS20 in each kilogram of sugar and the product will be sold to RS130 per kg during the holy month.
The sources said an agreement was reached to reduce sugar prices during a meeting attended by representatives of the four provinces and owners of sugar factories.
They said that the Ministry of Industries and Production will send the subsidized sugar summary to the Food Security Division for its final approval, and the sugar will be sold to RS130 per kilogram. The Cane Commissioner will be responsible for monitoring sugar prices.
The sources revealed that the Ministry of Industries and Production has issued the communication of the meeting to the main secretaries of the four provinces and has sent an official notification to the Association of Moletas Sugar de Pakistan with respect to the price of RS130 per Kg.
During Ramazan, subsidized sugar will be available in low -cost model and will be supplied in counters in Mega, large and small stores. The sugar bags of one and two kilograms will be sold with a limit of five kilograms per citizen depending on their computerized national identity cards (CNIC).
The responsibility of focal people for the distribution of sugar in the four provinces has been assigned to the CaƱa Commissioner. The sale of subsidized sugar will begin three days before Ramazan and will continue until the 27 of Ramazan.
