RS300 billion reserved for the maintenance of the law and order

The Punjab government has assigned RS300 billion by law and order in its budget for fiscal year 2025–26.

The announcement marks one of the largest investments in internal security in the history of the province, with emphasis on police surveillance, penitentiary reform and the establishment of specialized institutions to fight crime.

More than RS200 billion of the total allocation have been reserved for non -development expenses, mainly covering the operating costs and salaries for the police in Punjab.

Meanwhile, more than RS10 billion will be spent in development schemes in the police, prisons and rescue sectors 1122.

The highlight of this year’s budget is the establishment of the Crime Control Department (CCD) in charge of investigating atrocious and organized crimes throughout the province. The CCD will have its headquarters in Lahore and will receive a total of RS6.54 billion. This includes RS3.24 billion under the Annual Development Program (ADP) for the construction of its avant -garde headquarters and research facilities, while another 33.3 billion are destined for personnel, logistics and operations.

The Government has launched a plan to improve police infrastructure, with RS6 billion assigned for the renewal and modernization of police stations in all districts. In addition, RS734.7 million has been assigned to reinforce the police training school in Rawalpindi, while the headquarters of the Specialized Protection Unit (SPU) in Lahore will receive RS797.2 million.

To improve the control of the crowd and the tactical response capabilities, RS382 million have been approved for the establishment of a riot headquarters in Lahore. Meanwhile, the construction of new administrative facilities and residences is underway, including RS450 million for the office and residence of DPO in Murree, RS350 million for research offices in Mandi Bahauddin and RS280 million for the residences of officers in LaHore.

Emergency services under rescue 1122 are established for expansion, with RS508 million assigned for current and new initiatives. The Emergency Services Academy will undergo an RS352 million update to improve training capacity, while two new rescue stations will be developed in the Mangowali and Kathala Chowk areas of Gujrat at a cost of RS291.8 million RS291.8 million.

In addition, RS50 million will support the emergency response equipment of the community (cert) in rural areas, with the aim of closing the emergency response gaps in Punjab underlined regions.

The government plans to invest significantly in surveillance and control and control systems through its smart cities and the Tehsil project. The Lahore Safe City initiative will be renewed with RS1.2 billion to install high resolution cameras and AI -based threat detection tools.

To complete safe smart cities in 19 additional districts, RS2.54 billion has been allocated, while RS5.8 billion will finance the Tehsil CM project, which brings surveillance infrastructure to high crime divisions throughout the province.

The Lahore Prisons complex will receive RS6 billion for the construction of a modern correctional installation with vocational training, rehabilitation programs and high security areas. Other 4.8 billion will be used to build a new district prison in Sialkot with a capacity of 1,500 inmates.

For ongoing penitentiary infrastructure improvements, RS674.5 million have been assigned for personnel lodging and reimbursement initiatives of inmates.

Additional funds include RS65.6 million for the expansion of child protection units in eight districts and 1.17 billion to establish interprovincial joint control points in key locations such as Atock and Bhakkar to counteract the crime and smuggling of the provincial border.
