SA vs PAK 2024/25, South Africa vs Pakistan 1st Test, Day 1, Centurion Match Report, December 26-30, 2024

Shake South Africa chosen to bowl vs Pakistan

South Africa won the toss and elected to play Centurion first. Under sunny skies, but with gray clouds floating on the margins, Temba Bavuma chose to include Pakistan. When Pakistan batted first here on their last tour, they were bowled out for 181 on the first day. Shan Masood, who was part of that team, is the captain of this team and said he felt it was a surface where you could get value for your shots.
South Africa announced their line-up two days before the test and are going full steam ahead: Corbin Bosch makes his debut, with Marco Jansen, Kagiso Rabada and Dane Paterson completing the attack.

Pakistan also play a full-tempo attack, with Mohammad Abbas returning after three years out of the Test team, Khurram Shahzad returning from a rib injury and Naseem Shah and Aamer Jamal completing the attack. With Abdullah Shafique out, Shan Masood will open with Saim Ayub.
