Karachi: Karachi’s police have registered a case against Farhan Ghani, leader of the PPP and president of Chanesar Town, who is the brother of the Minister of the local government of Sindh, Saeed Ghani.
The case has been presented at the Ferozabad Police Station for the complaint of a government employee, Hafiz Sohail, who claimed that he was attacked while supervising the fiber cable work on a service road in front of Shahrah-E-Fafaisal on August 22.
The Fir called Farhan and his five associates under positions of murder and terrorism attempt, along with other provisions of the law.
The PPP leader and the president of the city is currently under police custody. However, the police have not confirmed the arrest.
The plaintiff said in the FIR that he is a government employee and that he had the task of supervising the work of underground fiber cable. He said he was present at the site when around 20 to 25 men, including Farhan, Qamar Ahmed and Shakeel, reached three vehicles.
The group supposedly faced Sohail, asking him to stop the work and asked if he had permission to dig the way, says the FIR.
Sohail said he told them that he had all the relevant noc, emphasizing that the work was being carried out with the approval of all relevant authorities.
He affirmed that Farhan’s men assaulted him, he pointed out weapons with the intention of killing. In addition, he said he was taken to a nearby office of the service station, where he was tortured.
Meanwhile, a police truck arrived on the scene, rescuing him from the group, took him to the police station, added the FIR.
When reacting to the report, LG Minister said his brother, along with his associates, would face the law after registering a case against him.
In a statement issued in the early hours of Sunday, the minister confirmed that an altercation took place the previous day between Farhan and Sohail.
He said Sohail had exercised his legal right by presenting a FIR for the incident.
The minister added that Farhan and the others involved would appear before the authorities and dispute the case in court.
“They will prove their innocence to the court,” said the minister.
